The country’s Awqaf ministry has organized the Quranic event virtually with the motto of “Algeria electronic Quranic education: from establishment to development”, Al-Shuruq website reported.
According to Awqaf Minister Youssef Belmehdi, some 800 memorizers and reciters from 19 countries, including Tunisia, Libya, Australia and the UK took part in the first stage.
After two months of competition under the supervision of Quran experts with mastery over the ten styles of recitation, 70 contestants made it to the finals, he said.
They compete via the Algeria Electronic Quran Teaching platform in different categories of Quran memorization, Tajweed and Tarteel recitation, he noted.
Winners will be announced in a ceremony slated for Monday evening, the Awqaf minister went on to say.

The Algeria Electronic Quran Teaching platform was launched in 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic with the aim of facilitating Quranic education.
Currently, some 30,000 individuals from different nationalities are learning the Quran via the platform.
